Use the 3:1 pitch, which punches 34 holes along an A4 edge, for small to medium documents of roughly 20 to 120 sheets. Switch to the 2:1 pitch, which punches 23 holes along an A4 edge, for thick manuals and books of roughly 130 to 250 sheets or more.
